Wizz Jones never knew that Bruce Springsteen had heard of him – until last May, only a couple of weeks after Wizz played the Greystones, when Springsteen opened a show in Berlin with a song Wizz wrote over forty years ago – When I Leave Berlin. More recently still, Wizz, whom Keith Richards praised lavishly in his autobiography, features in the cinema released documentary Acoustic Routes, about his late friend Bert Jansch. Wizz Jones is a maestro of the acoustic guitar who learned at the feet of Big Bill Broonzy and Ramblin’ Jack Elliott and has all the stories, as well as the songs, of fifty years on the road.
