Event information

The Bergersen Quartet explore themes of Journey and Memory in an international multi-media collaboration. Joined by British choreographer Alison Brewerton and El Salvador born filmmaker Chinoix, they perform Steve Reich's Different Trains in the truly unique setting of the Grand Entrance Hall to the Thames Tunnel. The quartet also perform recent works written for them by pioneering contemporary composers Terry Davies, Ash Madni, Eliot Short and Matthew Slater.

The Bergersen Quartet, comprised of Jonathan Truscott & Craig Stratton on violin, Elisa Bergersen on viola and Nick Allen on cello, is a dynamic string ensemble specialising in the performance and recording of music by living composers. Recent collaborations include Opposites React - a world fusion concert curated by composer Richard Norris, and String Quartet Plus - a series of concerts comprising 14 world premières, by nine composers, for string quartet plus guests. Upcoming projects include working with composer Eduardo Miranda for Plymouth Contemporary Music Festival, and performing with West End star Kerry Ellis at the London Palladium.

There will be a cash bar available in the interval. And come for a pre-concert Midnight Apothecary cocktail in the beautiful roof garden: the afternoon pop-up bar will remained popped-up for an extra half hour, specially for this performance.

Due to the nature of the space, we regret that there is no wheelchair access. Getting into the venue involves bending down through a short tunnel and then walking down a solid scaffold staircase. The venue is underground, so even in good weather it can been cool inside, so bring an extra layer.

Tickets will be £12 on the door.
