THURSDAY 9th May - KEVIN FLANAGAN'S RIPRAP QUARTET - 'SNOW BLUE NIGHT' CD LAUNCH - Well meshed jazz unit formed eight years ago and originally inspired by the freewheeling lateral association of the Beat Poets, Miles Davis with his open-ended forms (which always had a solid street-informed rhythmic drive), and Kerouac's idea of a 'Holy Goof' (spiritual trickster. Their second album ranges from burning neo-groove jams and blues to haunting and atmospheric 'free' jazz that makes sense where musicians solo beautifully and sit-in grooves like they've found a new place to live.
