CORPORAL MACHINE AND THE BOMBERS
When Romford skiffle-punk ensemble Corporal Machine & The Bombers first opened for The Television Personalities, Dan Treacy joked “you lot look like you’ve just walked out the Job Centre!” At the time, day jobs included welder, gravedigger and bin man for Newham Council. Their performance secured a regular TVPs support slot.
Following their debut single “Cheer up Britain” the band has crafted an album of life-affirming songs mixing the Bombers’ twin guitar and brass knees-ups with the Corporal’s mischievous gin-soaked kitchen sink dramas including a taste of today’s favoured tipple in Itchykoo Park with “The Day’s of White Lighting”, along the District Line for romantic close encounter in “Gloucester Road” on a diet of what should never be part of your “Five A Day”
In a world without meaning we all need a release, and the Bombers euphonic blend of skiffle, mod/R&B and crafted guitar riffs is there to drag your head out of the oven and rejoice in the fact that we’re all going down, while the Corporal’s sweet and sour poetry joins the dots in your head to show you what you already half knew, that there can be happiness at the bottom of a glass, the masses aren’t to be trusted and crack cocaine is a very risky business!

SCRAPPY HOOD
Scrappy Hood, of Milk Kan fame, combines anti-folk lyrical sensibilities, and anthemic pop melodies, spiked with some hip-hop and blue-grass for good measure. His urban poetry is formed of the nostalgic, comedic and often controversial observations of a reformed public transport busker

THE COLD SPELLS
The static hum of an old guitar, the wheezy creak of a battered harmonium and the reptilian hiss and pop of drum machines conspire in hushed tones. With the flick of a switch lights go out, amps turn on, The Cold Spells vibrate in rhythmic shivers. Torrid stories, salted melodies, woodpecker beats; dub-folk teased through the eye of a needle. The Cold Spells make music to watch pearls dry and spit out notes pickled in brine.

SPINMASTER PLANTPOT
Spinmaster Plantpot is a shouted-word acapella punk rock poet with a big pot belly and no etiquette. His surreal vignettes evoke a Billy Bragg/Lightin' Hopkins hybrid that is bound to explode in the right conditions.
