Concert for Heroes

Help for Heroes has been working with Banbury Symphony Orchestra and the Rotary Club of Banbury to create a truly memorable ‘Concert for Heroes’ that will take place at St Mary’s Church in Banbury on Saturday 13th July at 7.30pm.

The programme of outstanding orchestral music will honour ‘Fallen Heroes’, and includes The Dambusters March, 633 Squadron and Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture.

At the heart of the concert is Shostakovich’s magnificent 7th symphony. Written in the bleakest of times as Russia was invaded by Germany in 1941, the symphony was famously premiered in Leningrad at the height of that city’s brutal siege. The central message of the symphony is that hope prevails, that you cannot destroy the human spirit.

Chief Technician Dave Lewis, the Oxfordshire County Coordinator for Help for Heroes will talk to the audience about the work of the charity and how the money raised is spent. Help for Heroes volunteers will also be selling merchandise and collecting donations.

Our injured troops, who have sacrificed so much, will need our support long after the war in Afghanistan is over and for the rest of their lives. Help for Heroes are helping them from money raised at events such as this so please support us and them by attending the concert.

Tickets for this unique concert are strictly limited and have just been released.

The organisers expect the tickets to sell out quickly. It seems highly unlikely that tickets will still be available on the day of the concert. While they are available, tickets can be bought from representatives of the organisers, from One Man Band and from the Banbury Tourist Information Centre. Tickets are priced at £10 for adults and £4 for children.
