A tantalising night of authentic Arabian music and dance
Featuring Turkish gypsy band OPAZ
(Nicki Maher - clarinet, Elizabeth Nott - percussion, Georgios Tsiaousidis - bass)
Creating a wild and expressive sound, Opaz is an ensemble that plays music in the Romani (Gypsy) style from Turkey and other parts of the North-Eastern Mediterranean. Drawing from the colourful hotchpotch of music that constitutes the Roma tradition, the band strives to capture the nomadic soul and creative power that lies within the emotive melodies and driving rhythms.
Also featuring Turkish bellydance act ELIF TARAKCI.
Elif's unique style is a mixture of Turkish, Gypsy (derives from growing up in gypsy neighbourhood in kasimpasa-Istanbul), Egyptian and Tribal.
All proceeds will go to Macmillan Cancer Support.
