Event information

Giacomo Puccini - Messa Di Gloria and Opera Choruses
Nantwich Choral Society Summer Concert conducted by John Naylor with Alexander Wall (tenor) and Mark Holland (baritone). Accompanied by William Nicholson (organ)
St. Mary's Church Nantwich will be the venue for Nantwich Choral Society's Summer Concert. A performance of Giacomo Puccini's lovely setting of the Mass, his Messa Di Gloria. This is an early work of Puccini, first performed when he was only 22 but it already shows glimpses of the operatic writing that was to come. Indeed some of the themes reappeared in his later operas. It is a full setting of the Mass for four-part choir, organ and soloists.
Also in this concert will be some solo pieces for tenor and bass voice and popular opera choruses including Guiseppe Verdi's Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves from Nabucco and the Duet from the Pearl Fishers by Georges Bizet.
