Event information

I’m really pleased that we have managed to secure a show from the great Luka Bloom in one of his rare visits to the UK. Luka is the younger brother of influential Irish singer/songwriter Christy Moore, and as Barry Moore, played with Planxty and Moving Hearts before tiring of being in his brother's shadow and relocating to the US in 1987. Re-christening himself Luka Bloom, he toured with The Pogues, The Violent Femmes, Hothouse Flowers and The Cowboy Junkies and having produced 20 albums since the 1970s, including the classic 'Riverside' in 1990, is now one of Ireland's best-respected contemporary folk artists.

With a poet’s heart and a rockster’s soul, Bloom continues to push the boundaries of what his music can do, making provocative, poetic music that delves deep into the intricacies of the human soul and pulls out the nuggets and puts them in a song.
"...someone whose quest is far from over, but whose comfort in his own skin bears testament to a road well travelled. And the music's not half-bad either. Magnificent." (Siobhan Long – Irish Times).
“Bloom never fails to deliver an entertaining show, and you are hereby advised to catch him at a town near you". (Mike Farragher – Irish Voice)
