The Bushbury Mountain Daredevils are back. Well actually, they were never really away … just resting.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the formation of the band, originally from Bushbury, near Wolverhampton. They started life as street performers in the UK and Europe. Following the success of their first album, "Bushbury Mountain" in 1994, the band went on to perform at all major festivals, building a huge fan base in the process. The 2013 line-up captures the folk and country essence of the early Bushbury's sound and features original members Eddy Morton (vocals, mandolin, harmonica, guitar and accordion), Eric Barlow (vocals and guitar) and Paul Hodson (vocals, ukulele bass and foot drum).
Winner of the Wath Festival Young Performers Award 2012, BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award Nominee 2012 & New Roots Competition Finalist 2012, Sunjay’s accolades are formidable for somebody who turned 19 just a few months ago. It’s a testimony to how hard he has been working, travelling all over the country since the release of his first album ‘Seems So Real’, performing whenever and wherever possible. Whether headlining or supporting, in 2012 Sunjay played just over 100 gigs. So is it any wonder that he’s now embarking on a Tour right through to August, with dates already in the calendar up to the end of 2014? To my mind it’s no surprise he has achieved as much as he has, few so young are prepared to work so hard. The list of people Sunjay has supported is endless; Chris Smither, Phil Beer, a string of dates with John Renbourn & Wizz Jones, Terry Reid & even Martin Turner’s Wishbone Ash! Sunjay reputation is growing all the time and as it does the demand for his music grows too.
“For such a young performer, Sunjay Brayne shows real confidence, maturity and ease on stage that it seems like he has been doing nothing else all of his life.” – Folk All Magazine
