"Different from the norm and more than a little bit special." // THE ARTS DESK
"Brings together a number of lo-fi, anti-noiseniks - if you're one of those idiots who likes to chat through bands with your bored/boring mate about how you arrange your sock drawer then this probably isn't the event for you." // JOCKNROLL
"The softly sung soundtrack to a perfect Sunday... Ushers? Pah. It's shushers we need." // BERNADETTE MCNULTY, TELEGRAPH
The Local is delighted to announce SHHH BRISTOL, a one-day festival of quiet music and art, guest curated by RACHAEL DADD and featuring performances from Fence's ROZI PLAIN and Bristol's cult favourite maverick one-man band ICHI.
Shhh is the quiet music festival, developed by International music hub The Local and visual artist Luke Drozd, featuring guest curators (including Scottish Album of the Year 2013 winner RM Hubbert) and brought to you in conjunction with industry partners such as Chemikal Underground and The Line Of Best Fit. Already in it's eighth year, Shhh festival has welcomed International artists including Sam Amidon, This Is The Kit, Emma Pollock (Delgados), Gravenhurst, Phildel, Mercury Music Prize nominated Jon Hopkins, Wounded Knee, Stuart Braithwaite (Mogwai) and Still Corners to events in London, Glasgow and Leeds.
The intimate style of the events has proved a fantastic platform for impromtu cameo sets from the likes of Beth Orton, Nico Mughly and David Thomas Broughton over the years, too.
Set to move further afield with more events in Brighton and Glasgow in 2013, a stage at this year's Wilderness Festival dedicated to Shhh and international Shhh events under discussion, the concept of carefully curated music combined with a venue suited to the cultivation of a listening audience has already proved popular with concert-goers who have made events since 2005 a repeatable success and received coverage in the national press and on BBC 6 Music.
Early bird tickets are now on sale, and many more bands will be announced over the coming month.
