SoundsXP presents...
This Many Boyfriends
http://www.thismanyboyfriends.com
This Many Boyfriends are an indiepop band from Northern England. They bonded over a shared love of playing pop music far too loud in rooms far too small. They formed several years ago but have been through more lineup changes than The Fall, before settling on the current one: Richard on lead vocals, Tom on bass guitar, Laura on drums and Daniel on lead guitar.
They are named after a Beat Happening song, and people have compared them to Orange Juice, The Cribs, Hefner and The Smiths. They are also influenced in slightly less obvious ways by the likes of PJ Harvey, The Slits, Spearmint, Jonathan Richman, Otis Redding and Joy Division. Richard likes Paul Simon so much that he wrote a song about him!
“Sounds like 5 people high on several bowls of sugary cereal, bouncing down a stair case on a number of bright orange spacehoppers” - Steve Lamacq, BBC 6 Music

"Sitting somewhere between The Saints-Gun Club....and the best of first wave '77 punk..plus their own spooky, unique brand of heavy skronk. Basically its hard to describe, so lets just resort to simple adjectives like awesome and mind-blowing, and say that this sophomore effort is sure to be heading onto the inevitable 'best of 2011' lists. HH are possibly the most underrated act to emerge from in recent revival in the UK's indie-punk-rock scene with the likes of Male Bonding, Fair Ohs, Mazes gaining much deserved attention its time for HH to get some hard earned accolades. They're also one of the finest live bands you are ever likely to catch on the London circuit." AA - SID // 12.07.11

“Sounds XP is a UK based alternative music webzine which promotes independent music that we passionately feel deserves wider exposure. Written by fans for fans, it exists outside the hype, huckersterism and, frankly, the payola that characterises the music business.”
