International Women’s Day Celebration Friday March 7th

To mark the end of Fairtrade Fortnight and to celebrate International Women’s Day 2014, Global Fusion Music & Arts have joined forces with the Her Centre in Woolwich for a feast of music, dance, poetry drama and food. Starting at 5pm and running until 10pm on Friday 7th March in Charlton House. The evening will be filled with a wide range of female talent from the young, to not so young. DJ Debbie from the Women’s Radio group will kick of the evening and will be the MC. There will be some tasty Indian food and African dance from Malaika Dance Unique, powerful and vibrant singing from Ugandan singer songwriter Milly Namukasa and Kenyan Diva Apelles Ogaga. Greenwich singer Simone Plummer and poet and musician Louisa Le Marchand will be performing some original material, in keeping with International Women’s Day and new comer singer/songwriter Zarina will be showing us how the younger generation also have something important to say, this will be followed by some drama from writer actor Tanya and that’s just the first half. Nadia Al Faghill will be beating out some rhythms and vocals with the aid of her trustee djembe drum, followed by traditional Chinese Music from Cheng Yu playing the Pipa. The evening will finish with a piano and flute recital of female composers by Fie Ren and Helen Vidovich. All of this for only £5, food, music, theatre, poetry and dance, a truly international evening of female talent at Charlton House, on Friday 7th March.
