SO WHO THE CHEB IS ON THIS MONTH?!
Phil Ellis
Wild eyed misanthrope Phil Ellis has established himself as one of the great comedy voices of the Manchester scene. A performer who believes the show must go on no matter how many nervous breakdowns you may have throughout the set, which is usually about four or five. Ellis gained a mix of rave reviews and words of misplaced rage and bewilderment for his Edinburgh show 'Unplanned Orphan' last year and aims to do the same for the rest of his career.
The Bell Peppers
Manchester surf rock two piece (though they'll be a three for the night) play dreamy riffs to help you cruise your mind van to the shores of 70s California. Grab a taste of lo-fi goodness here: http://thebellpeppers.bandcamp.com/album/saved-by-the-bell-peppers and try to remember that Manchester's land locked and there's no surfing on the canals.
Kevin Dewsbury
Self proclaimed 'blokey gay' Kevin Dewsbury delivers razor sharp observational comedy for you to compute with your brains. A natural stand up with impeccable timing and a knack for saying what you're thinking, only much funnier. No offence to you or anything. He's just really good.
Gein's Family Giftshop
Ask anyone on the comedy scene in Manchester at the moment who their favourite new act are and they'll invariably tell you its Gein's Family Giftshop. And not just cos we threatened to take their thumbs if they said anything else. A sketch group that are genuinely 'laugh out loud, soil your pants, feel immediate shame, then laugh some more' funny, as the old saying goes, it's only a matter of time before their given their chance on the telly box. Hopefully not on Crimewatch. Or Take Me Out.
History Cuffs
This month sees the first ever Manchester History Festival, so to celebrate such we will be running through some of the most important historical milestones that have shaped this fair city. Hopefully someone from the festival will be coming down to chat to us about all that's going at the fest. DISCLAIMER: may not be historically accurate.
Ben Tonge
Your host, with the most. Mr Tonge will guide you through the evening's entertainment with poise, jokes and a really lovely beard.
