Event information

"Is not folksong the bond of union where all our musical tastes can meet?" – Ralph Vaughan Williams.

These arrangements span a century of assimilation of British folk-song into the choral tradition, beginning with the early work of English composers, including notably Ralph Vaughan Williams and Gustav Holst, who early in the 20th century supported the work of the Folk Song Society, led by Percy Grainger, to collect traditional songs before they became lost to social change: songs that sing of eternal themes of love and loss, of separation and reunion, sadness and celebration.

We round off our season with a supper concert: please note that as this is a catered event, tickets must be purchased in advance.
