Perthshire fiddler and singer Patsy Reid is one of the most admired musicians in the UK.
In the last couple of years the former Breabach fiddle player has performed extensively with BBC Radio 2 Folk Award 2013 winners Kathryn Tickell and Kathryn Roberts & Sean Lakeman, The Cecil Sharp Project and Zakir Hussain’s Pulse of the World. She also contributed violin, viola and cello to albums by Donald Shaw, Duncan Chisholm, Bella Hardy, Treacherous Orchestra, Tim Edey and Luke Daniels to name just a few.
Now Patsy takes centre stage - accompanied by an equally accomplished band - to bring us tunes and songs from her highly acclaimed new album, The Brightest Path. This, her first solo recording since 2008’s rapturously received Bridging The Gap, features freshly
recovered traditional Scottish melodies alongside self-penned and contemporary material that demonstrates Patsy’s ability to virtually sing through her instrument.
Combining skills and techniques from both folk and classical disciplines; Lau’s Aidan O’Rourke describes her as having “an accuracy and tone that many fiddlers only dream of. She has truly mastered her instrument.”
