Sun Ra 100 – An American Independence Day homage to one of the Grand Masters of American Music by the London Art Collective.

In 2014 legendary mystic, composer and bandleader Sun Ra would have been 100 years old. This concert, created by classical and jazz flautist Rowland Sutherland, will tap into Ra’s musical legacy. Other musicians in the ensemble include: vibraphonist Orphy Robinson, who is currently touring with virtuoso violinist Nigel Kennedy; Pat Thomas (piano/electronica); Maurizio Ravalico (percussion); Neil Charles (contra-bass); and Rachel Musson (saxophone). The compositions that Sutherland has selected highlight the ethereal, uplifting and intuitive funk of Sun Ra.
