HAFDIS HULD:
Hafdis Huld is an Icelandic singer and actress who began her musical career as a member of the electronic band Gus Gus in 1995 and left the group in 1999 to collaborate with chill-out electronic outfit F C Kahuna.
Hafdís made her solo debut with her 2006 album Dirty Paper Cup which won Best Pop Album at the 2007 Icelandic Music awards and featured songs co-written with Jim Abbiss (Arctic Monkeys), Pascal Gabriel, Boo Hewerdine (Natalie Imbruglia, Eddi Reader) and Chris Corner (Sneaker Pimps). The album received considerable acclaim from the world's music press and brought her to the attention of national radio in the UK.
Her second album, 'Synchronised Swimmers' was released in 2010. Produced by French Grammy award winning producer Calum MacColl and Alisdair Wright, and recorded by legendary engineer Phill Brown (Rolling Stones, Robert Plant, Talk Talk).
Radio support from BBC Radio 2 (Jeremy Vine, Steve Lamacq, Radcliffe & Maconie, Janice Long), BBC 6 Music (Chris Hawkins, Mark Riley, Lauren Laverne, Phil Jupitus), BBC Radio 4 (Loose Ends) and a raft of other national European and US radio stations continues to raise her profile worldwide. Her reputation for being a totally original and delightfully different artist is perfectly captured in her videos on YouTube that continue to attract high viewing figures.
Hafdis has played many of the biggest festivals in the UK, including Glastonbury, The Secret Garden Festival, The Big Chill and Camden Crawl. She has also supported major artists such as Paolo Nutini.
Her recordings have been used for several TV ad campaigns across Europe and she even appeared in person in a TV ad for Mercedes Benz and an award-winning promo campaign for Reyka Vodka. She was also a featured vocalist on Tricky's much-praised album 'Knowle West Boy', on which Tricky commented that he "thought she sounded like Jesus".
In 2011, she was asked to record the theme track for the acclaimed film, 'The Borrowers', staring Stephen Fry. The film, featuring Hafdis's version of 'Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas', was premiered on BBC One television on Boxing Day.
Hafdis's new album entitled 'Home' (her third album of all original songs) has just been released, and this is a rare chance to see her perform the new album and classic tracks in an intimate space such as The Castle Hotel.

AIDAN SMITH:
Aidan Smith is a singer-songwriter whose ramshackle and warmly humorous ditties echo the early work of his first label's co-founder Damon Gough (Badly Drawn Boy).
He is by no means your typical folk artist, which is refreshingly different, and at the same time, wonderfully brilliant.
