Alien Jams Presents: Sculpture and Negra Branca

Alien Jams will be hosting a night of live music at the Waiting Room, with two excellent acts, Sculpture and Negra Branca. We also have Richard Greenan of Kit Records, who will be djing throughout the night!

SCULPTURE-

Sculpture is a twin-pronged attack on the cortex, via both auditory and visual nerves. Dan Hayhurst provides tape looped sonic squiggle, Reuben Sutherland initiates stop-motion zoetrope projection of lysergic chaos. This is one of the most psychedelic experiences it is possible to have without chemicals, an audio-visual trip from kitsch to cosmos. -oMMM

Along with their excellent Membrane Pop release on Oneohtrix Point Never's Software Label, Sculpture have previously contributed work to Dekorder Records, Kaleidoscope and Digitalis, as well as self releasing their 7" animated single, Plastic Infinite in 2014. Their live performance is integral to their work, an audiovisual experience through found sounds and images, abstract animation, tape manipulation and improvisation.

NEGRA BRANCA-

Negra Branca's Marlene Ribeiro will be coming down from Manchester for a special London appearance! You might know Marlene from Manchester psych heavyweights Gnod, but her solo work navigates through mind-bending psych pop territory, with heady dub inspired baselines and spellbinding vocal delivery.

Her debut cassette was released on Gnod's Tesla Tapes last year with excellent reception, and pressed to vinyl earlier this year. Negra Branca's style has been compared to artists like Grouper and Inga Copeland, it is also said that "catching Marlene do her stuff live live is an exciting prospect not to be missed."
