Event information
Funked-up Ethiopian roots- a contemporary take on the colourful traditional music from Ethiopia based on other-worldly musical modes and driven by hypnotic rhythms. Led by Temesgen Zeleke- a former student of Ethio-jazz legend Mulatu Astatke, his krar lyre is electrified and turned into a gritty, ancient rock guitar, accompanied by traditional kabero drums and fronted by stunning vocals. The band has been dubbed “The white stripes of Ethiopia” and for this Bossaphonik gig their sound will be beefed up by a funky 3 part horn section.
