Adrián Brenes
Born in the Province of Cadiz, Adrián has performed in many major peñas flamencas and other venues. In 2011 he collaborated with Milagros Ventura in 'Cositas Navideñas, 'De Ida y Vuelta, 'De Lunares' and 'Vivencias'. In 2012, Adrián made his debut as actor and director in the world's first flamenco production of William Shakespeare's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream', working with Jackie Cornwall. Later that year, Adrián formed part of the chorus in a new production, '1812. Viva la Pepa' by the well-known pianist Manolo Carrasco, which enjoyed great success in Cádiz and Seville. We can expect to see a good deal more of this young performer in the future. And you saw him first here.
Luis Vargas Monje
Luis 'el Mono' is simply the essence of flamenco song.
Born in the heart of gypsy Santiago, in Jerez de la Frontera, he made his debut at the age of 13 and was soon singing in El Cordobés, Tablao de Carmen and other famous Spanish tablaos.
He has shared the stage with other great "cantaores" like Fernando La Morena, Capullo de Jerez, El Torta and José Vargas, and sung in great theatres like Villamarta and Lopez de Vega, and sung for some of Spain's greatest bailaores such as Sara Baras, Javier Baron, La Tolea, Isabel Bayon and Rafaela Carrasco.
A regular at every significant festival in Spain for the last 20 years, and in constant international demand.
La Joaquina
Founder member, choreographer and director of Flamenco Express, she has worked with Christina Hoyos, Paco Peña and others in Madrid, Tokyo, New York, Montreal, Toronto, Paris and throughout Europe. ‘..utterly riveting variations of firecracker beats…tumultuous fervour ..indelible gracefulness.’ - The Stage
Chris Clavo
A founder member and musical director of Flamenco Express, he began playing the guitar at fourteen years old and later studied with flamenco maestros Carlos Heredia, Diego Amaya and Pepe Justicia. He has performed throughout Britain and Europe with Flamenco Express as well as touring with flamenco jazz virtuoso Eduardo Niebla and Iraqi pop sensation Jassim.
"Two amazing guitar solos from Chris Clavo and Jesus Alvarez made string instruments sing with impossible precision. " - Staffordshire Post.
“This feisty company delivers the finest in flamenco, plus sizzling soloist La Joaquina” Time Out
“What was surprising, however, was the sheer power and energy displayed by the dancers during this vibrant celebration of Spanish culture. Forget the sterile, regimented flamenco so often served up to tourists: this was the real thing, and to say that it packed a punch is an understatement” South Wales Evening Post.
