Eilidh McKellar is a 21 year old Scottish singer/guitarist whose debut album DELTA DEVIL DREAMS delves deep into the kind of blade-flashing, blues guitar mastery that first electrified the Delta genre from its slumber. Invocations of Jimi Hendrix and Jimmy Page abound, with the charismatic McKellar displaying the cutting edge inventiveness of contemporary icon Jack White. Through it all, DELTA DEVIL DREAMS stakes new ground, and it’s been ages since a female firebrand reaped the whirlwind of a guitar rock reset of her own making.

McKellar is ready for her close-up, delivering a scorching debut album of original songs powered by elastic licks and soulfully embered vocals. Whether it’s the opening swirl of “Summer Daze” or the indie rock feel of “Home” and “Rock Steady,” DELTA DEVIL DREAMS romps on the back of McKellar’s sensually engrained rock vocab.

Playing since she was 9 years old, a series of homemade YouTube videos made in her teens propelled McKellar as the guitar prodigy most likely to shred-your-tablet/laptop. Jump-ups on stage with blues/rock great, Joe Bonamassa followed, with Grammy winner Guy Eckstine producing her kickoff album to universal praise. McKellar has set her sights on more touring because of her love for live audiences and her much stated goal of ‘wearing these songs out’ on the road. McKellar’s modern sprawl of indie rock, blues, and smoldering pop is very much on deck in 2015.
