Amanda Smith Nottinghamshire Tales, Rachel Murray - Eco Stories
Presented by: Sherwood Storytelling Cafe0 | NOTTINGHAM: Sherwood the Divine Coffee House |
---|---|
P | Thursday 4th June, 2015 |
N | 6:30pm |
Double bill...A night of traditional tales, myths and legends from Old Nottingham town and Shire will be performed by professional Storyteller Amanda Smith.
Rachel Murray will bring is a host of eco stories looking at how we treat the land, our relationship to our environment..and ourselves.
Folk-heroes, local eccentrics and global legends are brought to life in a heart of Sherwood night of tales. We can remember and invoke our heritage and history through the surreal antics of the Wise men of Gotham, brave deeds of bold Robin Hood, revolutionary courage of Ned Ludd and more... hear of ghostly ladies, pie eating hopefuls and a host of eccentric town characters – Xylophone people of the past!
(if you're from Nottingham you should get that reference!)
Rachel Murray is a delightful, entertaining storyteller from Matlock. In a Queen of Hears with an edge of steel performance she will artfully guide us through a set of stories that reflect contemporary issues and thinking about our relationship to the land. From the lakes of Chile to the foothills of the Peak District Rachel crafts a magical experience combining ecology, activism, folklore and poetics. Plus she's a funny lass - in a good way! One of my favourite regional storytellers and a great gal! Expect fire and brimstone softened with heart and soul.
Food for thought - story style!
