Grow Young is hosting its first ever London show, and to celebrate we’ve brought three of our biggest loves together: football, fundraising and indiepop music!
FOOTBALL:
On Saturday 30th May we’ll be screening the finale of the 2015 season in the shape of the F.A. Cup Final, between the irresistible force of Arsenal and the immovable object that is Aston Villa, followed by 5 of the best indiepop/punk bands we’ve yet heard.
FUNDRAISING:
And if that wasn’t exciting enough, we’re doing all this to raise funds for the good people at Football Beyond Borders, who combine football training sessions with mentoring and tutoring programmes, focused on giving educational and employment support to young people in some of London's most deprived estates and schools.
It’s a really great cause that’s having some amazing successes, and you can read all about them and the great work they do across their FBB Schools and FBB Wanderers schemes here:

We’ll be focussing particularly on raising funds to support their Women Beyond Borders strand, which seeks to encourage the take-up of women’s football across all age ranges and abilities. The sessions are women-only, and are run by young female coaches seeking to make their way in professional coaching, giving everyone involved a chance to improve their skills and enhance the sport as a whole.
BANDS:
Wolf Girl
South London’s finest indiepop/garage ruffians, all about long walks on the beach, guitars that look like Cadillacs and feral teenagers. Latest E.P. ‘Mama’s Boy’ is truly excellent, out now on Soft Power Records. One listen to ‘Good For Nothing’ and you’ll be hooked.
"Sounds like walking on the beach on a sunny but windy day dressed like James Dean. You know, one of those nice pebbly beaches. Like Brighton. It's Brighton. And you're wearing shades. And glitter." - Queer Punx Podcast

¡Ay Carmela!
DIY indie / pop / punk from the wilds of West London, part and parcel of the also excellent Colour Me Wednesday. First single 'Dog Tired' came out in December 2014, and is well worth repeat listens. FFO The Tuts, Colour Me Wednesday, Block Fort, aloe vera drink, feminism, football and vegan food.

The Sweet Nothings
Peace, love, pop thrills and international socialism from Sheffield. Purveyors of train songs, protest songs, and last-gasp love songs. Sparkly and sincere. Your new band crush.

Chrissy Barnacle
Hailing from the grimey shores of the Clyde, Chrissy has come to sing you songs of self-discovery, sexuality and bravery. Most recent E.P. ‘To Speak’ is a truly exquisite slice of lyrical dexterity, emotional honesty and delicate guitars.

Me Rex
‘Kind of like a cross between Art Brut and Kraftwerk…that started off as a pun about arts & crafts but then I really liked the way it sounded.’
Possibly the only person to release records via the medium of dinosaur, new track ‘Stellar Abattoir’ is even better than the first Jurassic Park film. I’m serious, even that velociraptor bit, so make sure you get here on time.
