So, I invite Elle Osborne to play, as she's releasing a new album. She asks if she can bring Alex Neilson and players who recorded with her. Next thing I know, we've got Trembling Bells coming along to play their own set, too!
From the Lincolnshire coast, inspired by the language and beauty of folk song, Elle Osborne is a singer / fiddler / contemporary songwriter / sound collagist - a performer steeped in tradition and place, whose work figures in many 'best of the year' lists.
With their own blend of psych-folk and a new album 'The Sovereign Self', Trembling Bells have developed a reputation for the extraordinary, with stunning collaborations with Will (Bonnie 'Prince' Billie)) Oldham and Mike Heron (bringing complex Incredible String Band repertoire to life).
They'll all have taken part in a South Bank gig in celebration of Shirley Collins' 80th birthday. This unique date promises to be one not to miss.
