Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team is proud to host the premiere of
Brit Rock Film Tour 2015, featuring the World Premiere of 'Citadel' by
adventure film maker Alastair Lee.

Following the success of last year's inaugural 60-venue tour, leading film maker Alastair Lee presents the 2015 Brit Rock Film Tour - homegrown adventure comes to the big screen.

See Tour website: http://www.britrockfilmtour.com/

Focused this year on Alastair's native subject matter - mountains - the tour will feature three stunning films.

WILD ATLANTIC
A charming and inspirational montage by Belfast based climbing photographer Craig Hiller. Features exploratory action of many wild first ascents and adventures on Ireland's extraordinary west coast including the incredible Holy Jesus wall.

OPERATION MOFFAT - New from Jen Randal & Claire Carter
Operation Moffat takes inspiration and wit from the colourful climbing life of Britain's first female mountain guide, Gwen Moffat. Grappling with her preference for mountains over people, adventure over security, wilderness over tick lists, writer Claire Carter climbs, runs, scrambles and swims her way through Gwen's most cherished British landscapes. Including candid interviews with 91 year old Gwen, previously unseen archive material and unashamedly real action sequences, this film captures Gwen's infectious excitement for a life constantly seeking something strange or beautiful around the next bend.

CITADEL - the 2015 film from Alastair Lee
The world's first mountaineering doc shot entirely in 4k

Dubbed 'The Mountain God', the Citadel is a stunning 3000m peak in one of the remaining untouched corners of the Great Alaskan Range: The Neacola Mountains which due to their typically poor conditions and remote location are largely unexplored. The Citadel is beautiful but deadly, plagued by bad weather and prone to avalanche.
Matt Helliker and Jon Bracey are one the UK's most formidable partnerships in alpine climbing with many world class ascents to their names from the UK to the Alps and the greater ranges. Their objective is to make the first ascent of the extraordinary 1200m long north-west ridge.

Adventure film maker Alastair Lee embarked upon this project with the objective to push the boundaries and capture hard alpine climbing like never before. Employing the latest cineflex technology combined with an innovative vision the final results are truly incredible; the next dimension in mountain film. 'The Citadel' is set to be a stunning visual piece the like of which has not been seen to date.

Lee is a renowned adventure film maker with in excess of 80 international awards to his name and was also credited with giving mountain film 'a new language' in 2013 by the Trento Film Festival where Alastair won the industry's grand prize. His work is widely seen around the world with his films having been broadcast in over 40 countries including his recent work 'The Last Great Climb' on National Geographic US.

To match its visual prowess 'The Citadel' is laced with a strong sense of narrative. Like all good stories it is character driven and centres around one of the most unlikely yet successful partnerships in world alpinism. That of Matt Helliker and Jon Bracey.

The film begins in Matt and Jon's hometown of Chamonix, France where we see the ins and outs of their deeply contrasting personal lives; Matt very much the modern rock star long boarding to the crag in the sunshine whilst Jon is wrestling with work, sleepless nights and the commitments of a young family.

We will also be introduced to the concept of modern alpinism and indulge in some spectacular alpine action in their local hunting ground; The Mont Blanc Range.

The stage is also set here for why two accomplished mountaineers must still seek out new lines in unchartered territory where the odds are stacked heavily against them. We take a front seat ride and are with Matt and Jon every step of the way through all the hardships and struggles, hopes and disappointments. What unfolds is a classic narrative arc where success is snatched from the jaws of defeat.
