As a pioneering researcher in the science of laughter, Dr Sophie Scott has made many surprising discoveries. Laughter is universally recognised across humanity, but it's not unique to humans. Tickle a chimp, and it'll chuckle, and they share another trait with humans too - a 'fake' laugh for social bonding. How we distinguish between real and fake laughter is the subject of Scott's latest research - and that's not all she's up to. She performs regularly as stand-up comic. Come and have a laugh, and be enlightened, because for a stand up comedian, she's a great scientist!
