Event information

Cardboard Fox have been forced to withdraw, but Charlotte & Laura will perform as The Carrivick Sisters.
Bassist John Breese has injured his hand, and is unable to perform. We will endeavour to bring Cardboard Fox to TwickFolk next year. Tickets already purchased will be honoured either for the Carrivick Sisters or for whenever Cardboard Fox are able to appear. Refunds are also available from We Got Tickets, who should contact all ticket holders in the next few days.

The Carrivick Sisters are one of the UK's top young bluegrass and folk acts. Twins Laura and Charlotte perform their original songs and instrumentals alongside carefully chosen covers. Between them they play guitar, mandolin, fiddle, dobro, and clawhammer banjo to virtuoso standard and are rapidly building a reputation for engaging and entertaining live performances.

Growing up in South Devon, an area rich in folk lore and legends, much of their original material is inspired by their local surroundings and history. The Carrivick Sisters first started performing as a duo in 2006, originally as buskers, turning professional when they left school in 2007. In 2007 they played at Glastonbury and the following year Laura achieved 2nd place at the RockyGrass Fiddle Contest in America. Susequently they were finalists in the prestigious BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Awards 2010 and were named Band/Duo of the Year in the 2011 FATEA Awards.

As well as touring all over the UK, the Carrivick Sisters have performed at major festivals in Canada and mainland Europe. They have released five CDs, the latest, "Over the Edge" coming out to critical acclaim last October.

Charlotte Carrivick began learning to flat pick the guitar at the age of 14, having previously played classical guitar and mandolin. Americana UK described Charlotte's guitar playing as "simply breathtaking."

Laura Carrivick began playing violin at around 10 years old. She spends most of her time playing in her critically acclaimed duo, The Carrivick Sisters, with twin sister, Charlotte. Together, they've played all over the world, appeared on TV, recorded live sessions for national radio including BBC Radio 4's Woman's Hour, received several awards and released 5 albums. Maverick Magazine said of Laura; "Laura's fiddle and dobro playing are astounding."
