Is your school or nursery closed on Thursday 23 June EU Referendum poll day? Escape the election fever for a while and come and enjoy a family minibeast safari at Martineau Gardens. It’s National Insect week and we’re hosting two sessions in which you and the children can enjoy getting close to nature, with the help of Juliette Green. Juliette is our freelance Environmental Educator, she leads our school visits and there’s not much she doesn’t know about minibeats. Each two hour session will include minibeast hunting, pond dipping, a true or false minibeast trail and finishes with a minibeast story.
Activities are suitable for children aged three to twelve years. Supervised children only; parents/carers are expected to stay with their children and join in with the activities. Sessions limited to 10 children (plus parents/carers)
Session 1: 10am – 12 noon or Session 2: 1pm – 3pm
Advance booking essential
Please dress appropriately for the weather, since the session will take place outside. Waterproof trousers and footwear a good idea for pond dipping. Bring a drink and a snack, or bring your packed lunch if you’d like to have a picnic at Martineau gardens (after the morning session or before the afternoon session). Please note that Martineau Gardens serves hot and cold drinks but not food.
If you can’t get to us on the day, there are plenty of other ways to get involved with National Insect Week activities, follow this link for ideas: www.nationalinsectweek.co.uk
