David Morley is a British poet, critic and ecologist who won the Ted Hughes Award for New Work in Poetry in 2016. He has published 23 books, including 8 collections of poetry. His poetry and prose have been translated into several languages and his book on creative writing, The Cambridge Introduction to Creative Writing, is a bestseller around the world. David has received fourteen literary awards and has been one of the judges of The Cholmondeley Awards from The Society of Authors, as well as the TS Eliot Prize and the Foyle Young Poets Prize.
For this event, David will be joined by five of the most highly regarded contemporary poets in the UK – chosen by David himself - for an evening of poetry readings. Among those confirmed to appear are Sarah Howe the 2016 winner of the TS Eliot prize, and Jo Bell former director of National Poetry Day UK. Also appearing will be Luke Kennard Claire Trévien and Jonathan Edwards whose debut poetry collection won the Costa Book Award for Poetry in 2014, as well as first-place at the Ledbury Poetry Festival’s international competition.
This promises to be a very special event indeed.
