Herne Hill Music Festival: Family Concert - La Morenita Flamenca and the Herne Wind Quintet

La Morenita Flamenca - Flamenco performer.
La Morenita Flamenca (Michelle Carrier) is a professional flamenco dancer currently based in London. She has lived and trained in Jerez, Spain which is considered to be the birthplace of flamenco, and studied with many renowned flamenco artists artists including Mercedes Ruiz, Eva la Yerbabuena, Rafaela Carrasco, Belen Maya, Farruquito, Manolo Linan and Marco Flores amongst others. She has since performed around the UK in art centres, theatres, festivals including at Glastonbury, Latitude and Musicport and in 2009 as a support act for Carmen Linares at the Barbican. She continues to return to Jerez regularly to continue her studies and further develop her art. She teaches regular flamenco classes in Brixton and encourages her students to perform. Her students have since performed at the Southbank Centre, the Rivoli Ballroom, the Lost Theatre, Brixton Splash and the Norwood Feast.

The Herne Wind Quintet
Come along for an afternoon of great tunes for all the family with the Herne Wind Quintet. With an emphasis on having fun and spreading the good news about some of the wonderful wind quintet repertoire out there, the Herne Quintet have become seasoned performers, specialising in giving concerts to young people where participation is very much encouraged. They originally formed from players who met at Morley College whilst playing in the Orchestra resident there.
