An Evening with Hugh Christopher Brown + Suzanne Jarvie, Luther Wright & Miss Emily
+ Bonanza & Son DJs
at Aces & Eights - NW5, London.

Genius Canadian, New York-based producer and songwriter Hugh Christopher Brown curates an evening of music and song in London Town.

Chris Brown will perform solo and alongside emotive and critically acclaimed Toronto songwriter Suzanne Jarvie + Luther Wright and Miss Emily... This is destined to be the Canadian showcases of all showcases...

Since he was a kid, Chris has been writing songs. While still in high school he began earning his living as a musician with The Bourbon Tabernacle Choir. His considerable discography includes CDs and tours with Kate Fenner, The Openhearted Society, The Citizens' Band, DJ Logic, The Tragically Hip, Joan As Police Woman, as well as his solo work. Chris recent productions for David Corley and Suzanne Jarvie have garnered much critical attention; currently Chris is in studio finishing his own double album entitled "Pacem" due out later this year.

Suzanne Jarvie:
Born in colonial Hong Kong to British parents and raised in Toronto, Canada Suzanne was steeped in and drew inspiration from the likes of Gram Parsons and Emmy Lou Harris to Dolly Parton, the Stanley Brothers and Lucinda Williams. Partly because Suzanne craved stability in the wake of her parents' painful divorce, at age 14, and partly because of creative reticence, Jarvie went to university, became a lawyer, wife and mother of four children, with music playing only a small sideline.

It wasn't really until 2011 when things changed. On an ordinary day, her oldest son had a tragic accident, falling down a spiral staircase, and went into a coma. "It blew everything apart, including me," Suzanne recalls. "Despite the doctors saying he wouldn't survive, the miracle of his slow recovery and healing occurred and changed the course of my life....One afternoon I heard a melody in my head and just started writing. I picked up my guitar and played an opening line, and words just started appearing, through the subconscious, through emotions and through a melodic filter. Over the next few months...all these songs came gushing out. And I basically had never written any music before except for some throwaway songs."

Somehow, during the painful recovery of her son, she found the courage to record her stunning debut album about this raw, deeply personal and painful journey, Spiral Road, produced by the Canadian multi-instrumentalist and music producer, Hugh Christopher Brown.

Luther Wright:
A musical journey of over 20 years writing, recording and performing music with its starting point in a garage/punk, vigilante vegetarian outfit The Mugworts with his brother honing their chops while traveling in Mexico and playing to gringos and locals alike... A journey that now has Luther well placed and with a brand new album "Hearts and Lonely Hunters" produced of course by our host for the evening Chris Brown (Bourbon Tabernacle Choir/Chris Brown & Kate Femner) 'Luther Wright and Hugh Christopher Brown reignited a decades long musical relationship on tour in the Yukon and Alaska. The pair had first met touring Canada while Wright was on the road with Weeping Tile; the critically acclaimed band he was in with Sarah Harmer. Their orbits would cross many times between New York City and the Canadian Highways and Brown is a regular feature on Luther's albums, including the cult classic 'Rebuild the Wall', hailed by audiences and Roger Waters alike. Now, with 6
albums of well-crafted original alt-country music under their belts, the upcoming album, 'Hearts and Lonely Hunters', takes Luther and the band in a slightly different direction in no small part due to the longstanding collaboration with producer Brown. Luther's country influence is very much in full effect, this time with lush string arrangements, keys and exquisite backing vocals by Sarah Harmer. His humor and wit are here matched equally with heartfelt crooning; his punk passion shining through as always. Hearts and Lonely Hunters also features appearances by the legendary Holmes Brothers and two of New York City's rhythm heavyweights, Tony Scherr and Anton Fier.

Miss Emily:
Her music spans genres, crosses barriers and creates bridges. Her voice soars to emotional heights and reaches down into the grittiness of the soul. Her performances are foot-stomping, heart-wrenching adventures in rhythm, blues, jazz and rock and roll. For more than a decade Miss Emily has captivated audiences across Canada, the US and the United Kingdom with her unique combination of passion and talent. Her most recent record 'Rise' featured Gord Sinclair and Rob Baker of the Tragically Hip as well as Chris Brown of Bourbon Tabernacle Choir and Eric Schenkman of Spin Doctors. Support like that doesn't come along "just because." Over the years, these renowned musicians have recognized something that elevates her. But that's the thing with Miss Emily - she uses her talent to elevate others. Her commitment to local and international charities like The United Way, The Schizophrenic Society and Light of Day is unequalled. Perhaps it's this combination of generosity and
an unparalleled musical gift that has allowed her to assemble a list of accomplishments that include.

A recent article in Huffington Post described Chris Brown in no uncertain terms as a prodcucer and songwriter of genius proportions:
'In addition to being an accomplished musician what drew me to Chris Brown was his social activism. Most recently, Chris founded the Pros and Cons Music Mentoring Program at Pittsburgh Institution in Kingston, Ontario, where Chris continues to run music workshops. These workshops led to Chris to produce and record - what Exclaim! Magazine calls an "inescapably honest and sincere" recording - with some prisoners entitled Postcards from the County. Chris' ongoing work with inmates has been lauded throughout North America and his program was recently honored with a generous grant from the David Rockefeller Fund to help expand it to other correctional facilities.'
