The ghost of Federico Garcia Lorca, the prince of Andalusian poetry, will visit us during our next Poetry Brothel event as we examine the nature of inspiration in Spanish poetry and its gypsy folklore. Our poets and musicians will recite and sing from our intestines as the great poetry master would have demanded. We are paying tribute to the Spanish tradition and the fiery force attributed to the great Hispanic artists in dance, music and writing. Lorca rediscovered Flamenco for the Spanish general audience during the early 20th century and we want to celebrate his connection with this primordial form of expression. We shall also summon his flamenco muse, "el duende" who does not descend from the sky but ascends to meet us from the depths of our psyche where he resides.

Our poets will be indulging in their most fiery performances in search of "el duende" during this event and we shall feature the inspired performances of two very Hispanic members of out brothel, DIEGO LUNA & LA LLORONA. Flamenco will be present with a Spanish musical trio plus Tarot Reading, Soul massages and incurisions in the dark and exciting world of desire. Don't miss it.

The Poetry Brothel is a unique and immersive poetry event that takes poetry away from classrooms, lecture halls and Ivory towers and places it in the lush, radiant and fiery interiors of a bordello. Based on the concept of the fin-de-siecle bordellos in New Orleans and Paris, many of which functioned as safe havens for fledgling, avant-garde artists, The Poetry Brothel presents a rotating cast of "poetry whores" each operating within a carefully constructed character. For a small fee, you can purchase a piece of the "whore's" poetical spirit and absorb yourself in the true nature of one-on-one poetry readings in back rooms and other secret and intimate spaces.
