Four former Guest Stars reunite to form Laka D and the PushUps
The group features Laka D singer, piano player, composer, choir arranger and director whose soulful voice was featured with The Guest Stars and Emma Peel Fan Club. This gig will draw on personal reworkings of a wide range of material from Marvin Gaye, Billie Holiday and Chet Baker to original songs going back to the Guest Stars.
Deirdre Cartwright, Alison Rayner and Josefina Cupido are all well known as band leaders, composers and players as well as being long time collaborators with Laka D.
All the group were members of the women jazz and latin group 'The Guest Stars', in the 1980's. They toured in 17 countries and released three albums.
