So the ninth MCA begins! The top 48 musical comedy acts have been selected from online entries to the Musical Comedy Awards Facebook page and will now battle it out in the heats at the gorgeous Phoenix in Cavendish Square through to the Final at the iconic Udderbelly in April (date tbc). Come along for an amazing Saturday afternoon of musical comedy entertainment and vote for your favourite six acts to progress through to the next round! Which acts will progress to the next stage? There'll be plenty of highly civilised afternoon drinking, just please don't forget to vote at the end :-)

Now in its 9th year, the WeGotTickets Musical Comedy Awards is an annual competition to support, promote, expose and celebrate the best emerging musical comedians in the UK. If you are a fan of musical comedy acts such as Tim Minchin, Flight of the Conchords and Bill Bailey, you'll love this show!

Over the years, the MCAs have provided a launch pad to superstar acts like Frisky and Mannish (2009 Finalists), Abandoman (2010 winners) and Jay Foreman (Best Newcomer 2009 and now touring with Dave Gorman) and created a thriving independent platform to celebrate the artform that is musical comedy. Other acts that have featured as headliners in our shows include DAVID O'DOHERTY, BO BURNHAM, RUBBERBANDITS, MITCH BENN, ABANDOMAN, PIPPA EVANS, TOM BASDEN, ISY SUTTIE, GINGER & BLACK, EARL OKIN, WILSON DIXON, FRISKY & MANNISH, JO NEARY, MR B THE GENTLEMAN RHYMER, SARAH-LOUISE YOUNG, ADAMS & REA and many more.

Jollyboat are a musical comedy duo whose high energy act is engineered to get comedy clubs and festivals roaring. Their fast-paced lyrics are packed with laughs, and there's always something visual to see. Their fan base grows with every gig.

In 2011 Jollyboat won the Musical Comedy Awards, and their Edinburgh Fringe show received 5 star reviews, recommended by The Independent as one of the best acts on the Free Fringe.

In 2012, Jollyboat headlined the comedy tent at Festival Internacional de Benicàssim festival in Spain, as well as the British Hop Farm Festival and Kendal Calling Festival. Their Edinburgh Fringe show received a another 5-star review from fringe newspaper Three Weeks.

2013 saw Jollyboat on the lineup of Glastonbury, on the Bread and Roses stage, and at T in the Park in the Cabaret Tent.

They have been returning to Edinburgh every year, playing to packed rooms, receiving awards, and living up to their title of The Rock Stars of Comedy.
