Louis Brennan/Blurred Moon/Adverse Camber

Event information

London based Dubliner Louis Brennan is a singer-songwriter in the folk tradition. His folk however aren’t the field hands and travelling minstrels of yore but the repressed middle managers and ennui-ridden urbanites of late stage capitalism. They populate tales of bad sex, half-drunk commutes and interpersonal claustrophobia delivered in Brennan’s cracked baritone, at times embarrassingly intimate, at times spuriously broad, peppered with pitch-black humour.

Blurred Moon is a new project from Jim Wallis (guitar, vocals) and Ollie Murray (guitar). Until 2015, Jim was drummer for My Sad Captains, releasing two albums on Stolen Recordings (East India Youth, Bo Ningen) and a third in 2014 on Bella Union (Fleet Foxes, Father John Misty). His previous solo recordings, as Looking Glass, received radio play from Marc Riley, Lauren Laverne, Steve Lamacq, Radcliffe & Maconie, Gideon Coe and Tom Robinson. Ollie is an acclaimed short film director who has made music videos for The Horrors, Midlake, Noel Gallagher, The Vaccines, Field Music and more.

"Blurred Moon's Far offers a wonderful introduction...a song whose hushed intensity recalls Elliott Smith while also continually looking outwards." – Clash

Adverse Camber is the brainchild of musical journeyman Chris Woodhead. Formerly of critically acclaimed exlovers and a mainstay of Jamie T’s touring band Chris brings his melancholic songwriting and unique guitar idiom honed by years on the road to this new project. With echoes of Teenage Fanclub, Pavement and Yo La Tengo amongst others Adverse Camber evokes a boozy afternoon drifting into a forgotten evening, a sense of loss and faded beauty, a vunerability rarely exposed let slip for the briefest of moments.
