In support of new release Verging On The Perpendicular, BBC Folk Musician of the Year nominee Dan Walsh returns to a city close to heart as part of a mammoth UK tour. Special guest is outstanding Scottish singer/songwriter Frank Burkitt, now living and touring in New Zealand.

Dan Walsh:

Nominated for best musician at last year's BBC Folk Awards and touted as one of the finest banjo players in the UK as well as being a superb singer, songwriter and guitarist, Dan Walsh is described as 'the real deal' (UNCUT). 2017 sees the release of a highly anticipated new solo album after the success of critically acclaimed album Incidents and Accidents which was lauded as 'absolutely terrific' by Mark Radcliffe on BBC Radio 2. As well as many tours of the UK, he also has recent successful trips to USA, Canada, Germany, India, Norway and New Zealand to his credit. Having made his name with duo Walsh and Pound and now a member of the award winning Urban Folk Quartet, as well as guest appearances with Joss Stone, the Levellers and Seth Lakeman this unique and eclectic musician has stunned audiences across the world.

Frank Burkitt:

Heavily influenced by American roots music it is highly unique song-writing and quirky arrangements that define Burkitt. Since moving to New Zealand, he has formed the Frank Burkitt band and they have impressed audiences across New Zealand having completed 2 national tours, performed at a host of National Festivals including Wellington Folk Festival, Auckland Folk Festival, Newtown Festival, Wellington Gardens Magic, New Plymouth Festival of Lights to name a few. After successfully releasing their first album ‘Fools & Kings’ in November 2015, they have become well known for their colourful performances and have emerged as one of New Zealand’s finest string bands. Their new EP ‘The Parade’ was released on Friday 21st October, 2016 across all online platforms and on CD.
