In Autumn, a young country girl is on her way to school through the forest, when she spots a hunting fox. The fox flees from her, but the girl feels a strong desire to meet the fox again and over the months a kind of friendship develops between the two of them, so much so that she starts to see the animal as her pet, almost like a dog. But a fox is not a dog and one dramatic day the girl learns that a wild animal must always be free to decide what it wants to do.
