Acoustic Amnesty songwriters circle for Help Musicians UK charity

Event information

The next Acoustic Amnesty fundraiser will again be at the beautiful Sacred Trinity church. This time we are fundraising for the excellent Help Musicians UK charity (https://www.helpmusicians.org.uk/) as well as Manchester Amnesty.

Help Musicians UK, helps musicians young and old at all stages of their career. They provide help at times of crisis, but also at times of opportunity, giving people the extra support they need at a crucial stage that could make or break their career.

The excellent performers are Quiet Loner, Garron Frith and Karen Turley and biographies are below. A distinctly Americana flavour, although all our artists are very much rooted in the British Isles.

‪Also, the poetry part of this fundraiser gig will be from brilliant Dave Viney.

The gig will be seated and totally silent for performances with the (well stocked!) bar in a separate room. We are remaining with our approach of no sound system whatsoever - totally acoustic using the natural acoustics of the venue.

If you want to see how fantastic the format of the evening is here’s a video of one:

Doors will open at 7pm and the show starts at 7.30pm prompt.
Free on-street car parking is available and the venue is a stone's throw from Deansgate/Market Street in Manchester city centre.

Garron Frith

Garron Frith is one of the most exciting voices and acoustic guitar players in the North West, gigging relentlassley as headliner and support act, opening shows for Ian McCulloch, Madeleine Peyroux, Imelda May and the late great Jack Bruce among others.

Garron's style is a blues folk gospel with a nod to influences like Stephen Stills, Ronnie Lane, John Martyn and Lindsey Buckingham. With plays on Radio 2, BBC6 Music as well as local and Worldwide radio, a growing fanbase Garron is slowly but steadily gaining the recognition he deserves.

If the calibre of, Ryan Adams or Josh Ritter would have delivered this everyone would be gushing”. – DAILY EXPRESS 4/5

“Quite simply a blues/folk rock marvel.”- FATEA

“An outstanding album from start to finish” – PENNY BLACK MUSIC

Quiet Loner

Singer-songwriter Matt Hill is inspired by the storytelling traditions of American folk and country music but with a distinctly British lyrical bite.

In 2016 he was appointed songwriter in residence at the People's History Museum in Manchester. The resulting album 'Battle for the Ballot' tells the story of the fight for the right to vote.

Over 15 years his career highs have included an Americana UK Album of the Year, 4-star reviews from Uncut and The Daily Mirror, radio play on BBC6 Music and an invite by Billy Bragg to perform at Glastonbury Festival.

"A wonderful collection of songs” 10/10 Americana UK
