Damnably is stoked to announce a 2nd London headline gig for Otoboke Beaver on their \'Golden Week\' 2017 Tour following The 100 Club selling out.

“Not new, just new to us. Unhinged garage-punk from Japanese all-woman quartet. They tour the UK in May - not to be missed.\' The Guardian.

\'Combining garage, punk, and pop, the four-piece makes fast-paced tracks fueled with anger that fight against gender norms and the patriarchy\' - i-D

\'Their Riot Grrrl attitudes and passion for noise-rock make them stand out as true renegades in the underground scene.\'- i-D

\'Watch Outrageously Cool Japanese Band Otoboke Beaver Rock Your Socks Off\' The FADER

“Their hardcore punk sound was tempered by their presence onstage, which was at turns coy, flirtatious and completely badass…their energy was so infectious, it crossed all language barriers.” NPR All Songs Considered

Otoboke Beaver describe themselves as: “Japanese girls \'knock out or pound cake\' band”. Formed in the summer of 2009 in Kyoto, Japan, and consists of Accorinrin (lead Vocal & Guitar), Yoyoyoshie (Guitar &Vocals), Hiro-chan (Bass &Vocals), Pop (Drums &Vocals). Live, the band invade the audience and have shared stages with Shonen Knife, Guitar Wolf, BO NINGEN and more. “Love is Short!!” is the second EP and third release (outside Japan) from Otoboke Beaver on Damnably. There\'s something about the Kansai triangle (Osaka/Kobe/Kyoto - it\'s Japan\'s Midlands, America’s midwest) that\'s produced some great and very varied music with a great sense of unity, though each city is radically different. Otoboke Beaver have emerged from one of those many provincial scenes, influenced by western Riot Grrrl attitudes and the sounds of punk and angular post-rock, make easy work of the complex arrangements, reminiscent of inventive jazzy queercore punks ‘God Is My Co-Pilot’, or more recently ‘Afrirampo’. The band sing in Japanese, and often in difficult to translate Kyoto slang.

The band’s name is taken from a local ‘Love Hotel’ and the song subject matter is a screw you to bad love, devious boyfriends and general sexism. Their early releases carried artwork with scary visual beaver puns and Otoboke Beaver are part of a new wave of feminist Japanese bands, defining themselves sexually and musically. The pressure of the conformist and patriarchal society is palpable in their music.
The band release their \'Love Is Short!!\' EP on CD this month and on 7\" Vinyl for RSD.

Say Sue Me
Formed in 2009 Say Sue Me are from Busan, South Korea-the quartet make aquatically themed reverb soaked melancholia. The bands practice room is located in five minutes on foot from Gwangalli Beach in Busan but it’s the love of 60’s
surf that adds a lust for the liquidic, tethered with a healthy 90’s US indie rock inspiration.

Surfgaze became a genre in recent years but acts that play stand-alone pure surf plus indie rock/pop with added twang are decidedly rare. Say Sue Me are inspired in equal measure by 60’s Surf and 90’s US/UK Indie Rock and it’s that odd mesh of Dick Dale, The Ventures with Pavement, Sebadoh, Seam, Yo La Tengo, Mazzy Star, Jesus & The Mary Chain that makes quite unique. The combination feels natural with admirable guitar skills on display, but it’s Sumi’s low breathy, talky vocals and frank lyrical exposure of her human insecurities that’s the real charmer.
The band release \'Say Sue Me\' an 18 track compilation album on Damnably plus a 4 track RSD special 7\" EP.
