Event information

Singer and bouzouki player Daoiri (pronounced Derry) Farrell from Dublin, Ireland is set to claim the title of a Paul Brady for his generation.

Powerful, perceptive and fluid vocals are teamed with an instrumental musicianship honed through years of study. The result is a musician hailed as "one of the most important traditional singers to emerge in the last decade " by Donal Lunny.

Although Daoirí took up music at the relatively late age of 16 and only started to perform at 23, he has come a long way since the release of his debut album The First Turn, in 2009. The singer has continued to rise and gain in stature among the Irish folk-singing circuit since then, and has gone on to tour the album throughout Ireland, England, Scotland, France, Germany, America, Canada and India to acclaim.

While all this was going on, Daoirí was pursuing a Music Degree in Dundalk IT’s Applied Music course and later went on to complete his MA in Music Performance at the World Academy of Music in the University of Limerick; busy times for Daoirí on both an academic and performance level.

Since leaving college, he has regularly performed in some of the many singing circles and folk clubs around Ireland, from Dublin’s famous Góilin singers club to the All-Ireland Fleadh, where he was named the 2013 All Ireland Champion Singer!
