THE WEE DJS (LIVE!)

Producing electronic music since 1992, Dave Paton aka the wee djs is responsible for an enviable body of cutting edge electronic music. He has had numerous respected releases on the likes of Gassoline, Penalty, SCSI-AV and Input-Output, with a fantastic 2006 album ‘Fear and Lothian’ on Andrea Parker's Touchin' Bass. In addition, Dave has remixed for the likes of Silicon Scally, Si Begg and Two Lone Swordsmen. Recent appearances at this years BLOC Festival and on Mary Anne Hobbes’ BBC Radio 1 show have underlined his well-earned, solid international reputation, broadcasting to many what some have known for a long time...

An excellent producer, his live set will be tough, gritty, mashed electro (sub) bass. Very dark, very original, very dancefloor.

Cymbol return to Substance, weighing in with their trademark live electronics. In their own words…

“The brainchild of a twisted mindmeld!

We specialise in various forms of sonic manipulation via techno and fragmented electro. Cymbol was started in 2001 as our reaction to the generic club music of the era.

Our style fuses intense polyrhythms and intricate synthesis, by using a combination of software and hardware electronics we produce compositions ranging from harmonic electro soundscapes through to dissonant 'baby in the blender' doom montages.”

ROBBIE DYLAN (Tokyo Bitches) (Pure/Test/Dogma)

A mainstay of the best Scottish clubs, Robbie Dylan has held residencies at the likes of Pure and Dogma in Edinburgh and, at Test in Glasgow as one half of the Tokyo Bitches, the madcap Crack H666se duo. Need we say more …!? Expect a house and techno lesson, from the abstract and classic, to the wonky and weird….

MURRAY (Freq/Pins&Needles)

Murray Calder is a current Pins & Needles resident and, was co-founder of the Glasgow clubnight Freq, which in its time at the Soundhaus and the Sub Club hosted the likes of Detroit legend Dan Bell, Swayzak, Hardfloor, John Tejada, Carl Finlow, Alex Under, and Akufen. In line with those influences, Murray will bring a stripped down, contemporary set to Substance, perfect for the nights beginnings…

GAVIN RICHARDSON (Substance/Creative Industries)

Completing the bill is Substance's resident chieftain Gavin Richardson. Coming out of nowhere, he has consistently proved himself since our beginnings, undeniably holding his own with the big guns. Gavin's dj sets are always varied in their make-up, seamlessly balancing the understated and the maximal with ease…
