“Amazing percussionist and Hang player” – Björk
“Intriguingly beautiful… A mercurial sound indeed” – DJ Mag
“A man with a head full of ideas” – Songlines
“Captivating and compelling… truly mesmerising” – i-D
“An incredible musician in everything he plays” – Nitin Sawhney
“A masterful and sensitive musician” – The Telegraph
Manu Delago has just returned from touring around the world as drummer and Hang player of the Icelandic singer Björk. The “masterful and sensitive musician“ (The Telegraph) has also performed and recorded as soloist with the London Symphony Orchestra and collaborated with various artists such as Anoushka Shankar, Shpongle, Bugge Wesseltoft or The Cinematic Orchestra.
His solo career began in 2007 when he uploaded a video onto Youtube in which he plays the Hang, a UFO-like hand-played sound sculpture. Now that video is the most popular Hang video in the internet and has been viewed more than 4 million times. Soon after, the “virtuoso on the Hang“ (The Times) formed his own band which has since played concerts on five continents.
For the new album the band 'Manu Delago Handmade' has teamed up with producer Matt Robertson. The new material explores a vast array of sounds, ranging from sweet and delicate vocal lines with colourful Hang accompaniment, all the way through to chunky, electronic beats. The sound of the band is mature and well balanced, they have a real understanding of orchestration, moulding and continually changing the texture to create a different sound world with each piece.
The live show of Manu Delago Handmade is a definite must-see. The performance is delicate and sophisticated, moving with ease between heavily rhythmic and free-flowing spherical sections. Each of the four performers takes on several instruments, displaying the great musical diversity of every member of the ensemble.

Laura Moody
Cellist/Singer Laura Moody from London explores what is possible using only solo cello and voice to create unique, experimental, acoustic, pop music. Laura is also known for her work with innovative string quartet the Elysian Quartet which has won much acclaim for its pioneering performances and recordings of contemporary classical, experimental and improvised music. She has also toured world-wide as a member of physical theatre string ensemble The Gogmagogs. In her solo cello and voice work she looks to combine the two instruments in interesting and often physical, even theatrical ways. Laura composes what she believes to be essentially pop songs, although nobody else ever seems to agree with this definition. Her songs are influenced by beatboxing, electronica, contemporary and classical music and various kinds of pop music. However, in the absence of the ability to actually beatbox or use technology in any meaningful way and being much too self involved and lazy to be bothered to compose for other people she explores what is possible with just solo acoustic cello and voice. In her spare time she enjoys cooking and writing in the third person.
