Back after February\'s sold-out show!

All-star group The Ikos (pronounced after the song “Iko Iko”) have been laying down the sound of New Orleans funk and blues since their inception around Soho’s legendary Black Gardenia club a decade ago. With support to Dr John and headlines at some of Europes largest blues festivals this UK band take a genre and make it something truly their own. Tonight the band is joined by one of the UKs finest vocalists Denise Gordon.

Fronted by mercurial keyboard supremo Dom Pipkin, with playing credits ranging from Ray Davis to Pee Wee Ellis, Morcheeba to David Byrne and Laura Mvula to Paloma Faith, the band move effortlessly from classic swampy gooves of the 1950s Dew Drop Inn to the voodoo-tinged funk as laid down by Dr John and the Neville Brothers. Most of the band’s material is their own, prompting the quote \"Dom brings the whole New Orleans thing to the UK. So good!\" - Zigaboo Modeliste, The Meters, and godfather of modern New Orleans funk drumming.

Pipkin has performed at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, and appeared at the world-famous “Piano Night” in that city, sharing a stage with such luminaries as the late Allen Toussaint, Jon Cleary, and Ellis Marsalis. Jonathan Ross used him as a piano tutor, and the late film director Stanley Kubrik hired him to play for a private party early on in his career.

Special guest on the night is Denise Gordon. No stranger to Ronnie Scott’s, Gordon is in huge demand on the European festival scene bringing some of the finest gospel singing the UK has to offer. Other notable appearances include Buckingham Palace, Glastonbury Festival, T in the Park, and worldwide billings spanning Australia to Zimbabwe. Mentored by New Orleans musical ambassador Lillian Boutté, Gordon’s singing and natural groove are the perfect and authentic addition to the Ikos sound.

The band consists of Nick Pini - bass player to Tom Jones and Laura Marling, respected leader of the Big Smoke Family Roy Pfeffer on drums, and the internationally renowned brass section of Mirco Altenbach and Trevor Walker. The band climax every show to fever pitch and “have the whole audience dancing and clapping” – Classic Rock Blues.

“I can’t hold a candle to this guy” - Jamie Cullum, BBC Radio 2

“Lighting up the British blues and RnB scene. Very very good indeed!” - Paul Jones, BBC Radio 2

“Go see them, you won’t be disappointed!” – David Freeman, Jazz FM
