A faceless Ministry-run institution. An arrogant, self-absorbed dictator. An unscrupulous staff clamouring for power, and cells crammed with name-less ‘patients’.

But unrest is brewing, and when a patient is murdered, the fires of revolution are lit again. But who will come out on top?

This summer, Spinning Wheel Theatre’s Youth Takeover company set this dark comedy thriller in a society where the women have all the power.

At once chilling and deliriously funny, Harold Pinter’s tragicomedy The Hothouse is a study of the politeness behind torture, the corruption of bureaucracy and the secrecy of government.
