Very happy with this show - been loving Rattle for a while now and their last 2 releases keep getting played at Schism HQ!

Rattle is an exploration into subtle rhythmic fluctuations, tonal space, and minimal melodics. Their setup of two singing drummers seems unlikely, but Katharine Eira Brown (Kogumaza) and Theresa Wrigley (Fists) use the limitations of their arrangement to create pieces of intertwined, flowing, textural percussion and threading sublime melodies through the gaps. Knowing accents and shrewd interplay expand upon spartan beats to create a hypnotic, eddying whole that envelops the surrounding space. The Nottingham-base pair’s second album, “Sequence”, is released by Upset The Rhythm in November 2018. Its quartet of long-form tracks delve into a full range of possibilities available when taking simple resonant ideas, repeating them, ruminating on them, moulding them, and keeping them pure and unembellished.

Mark Daman Thomas is probably better known for his work with experimental psychedelic outfit Islet. He's also the founder of revered Welsh independent label Shape Records and we're happy to bring him to Oxford under his solo guise of Farm Hand. Yes to warped, Welsh hymnal beats.

"With its arcane oddness and warped, subterranean beats, the music of Farm Hand seems very much at ease alone in the dark”

Opening the show is After The Thought with their first live appearance for a number of years. The moniker of Matt Chapman Jones, we're excited for his new electronic material.
