Finding it hard to settle in to this new year? Come and have a right ol' splendid time with some likeminded people, it really is a safe space for everyone involved. Also we've just been nominated for best Comedy Club in Manchester, how good's that?! :) If you fancy voting that'd be very much appreciated, i'll bob the link at the bottom of this.
ANYWAY here's the very splendid acts doing mental health related material for you this time...
Tony Burgess - Tony's been headlining all over the world for many many years. In 1993 he became North West Comedian Of The Year and was runner-up in the prestigious So You Think You're Funny awards at the Edinburgh fringe festival. More recently he wrote and starred in BBC3 comedy "Ideal" with Jonny Vegas. He also wrote Sony award-winning Radio 4 comedy "The Nightclass" and had his own sitcom on BBC3 and then BBC1 called "The Visit." Tony was also recently nominated for best stand-up and writer in the North West Comedy Awards.
Katharine Ferns - Canadian comedian Katharine Ferns is relentlessly funny with her confessional and brutally honest storytelling style of comedy. With seemingly sweet and innocent charm, Katharine finds dark comedy in her observations on relationships, family, mental illness, feminism and her past misadventures.
Katharine was featured on the ichannel (Canada’s political and social issues network) in the stand-up series No Kidding and as a panelist on Inside Joke in 2014. She also appeared in an episode of MTV’s Losing It and several theatrical productions with the PineTree Players in Alberta. Katharine also hosted a monthly show COMEDY INFERNO and was the weekly headliner at the Hot Box in Toronto.
“Salty-sweet, savagely honest, brutally funny.” The Scene Magazine
Plus the absolutely wonderfully quick witted Chris Boyle
All compered by Harriet Dyer (as seen on ITV1, 2 and Be, BBC3 and as heard on Absolute Radio, BBC Radio 4 Extra, BBC Ouch, BBC Knock Knock)
"A bundle of whimsical hilarity a breath of fresh air will have you in stitches" - Broadway Baby
"Instinctively funny seems certain to become a comic force to be reckoned with" - Steve Bennett, Chortle
"She's got funny bones" - Kevin Bridges
"Dyer made the audience feel at home and managed to wow the crowd loveable and delightful" - Three Weeks
It's free to enter (donations after only if you can afford it.) Doors open at 7:00, show STARTS at 8:00. Any questions, let me know.
