Legends Of Country.
Legends Of Country are an English Alt-Country band formed by Jof Owen from the Boy Least Likely To. Inspired by a long-standing love of country music and memories of growing up watching Pebble Mill and listening to Johnny Cash and Marty Robbins, Jof Owen formed the band in the summer of 2014. Their songs combine a classic old country sound with an honest and the unmistakable English pop charm. Heartfelt and uplifting with the truckload of chicken pickin’ and country swagger thrown in.
Great Western Tears.
The Great Western Tears are a Country band and acoustic duo hailing from Oxford England who subscribe whole-heartedly to the Ameripolitan ethos of authentic Roots music. The song-writing partnership of Dava Waterhouse and Garry Richardson is the foundation of the band with both having a deep running respect and love for old time Country, Blues, folk and late 60’s West coast, matched to lived-in lyricism and expressive acoustic picking. The Great Western Tears roam the same musical landscape that Springsteen inhabited during his Nebraska & Tom Joad journeys and are fuelled as much by the ramblings of Kerouac as they are by Neil Young.
Don Gallardo.
From the foot of Mount Tamalpais, just north of San Francisco and east of the Pacific shore, to East Nashville’s stubbornly independent community of young artists and musicians, singer/songwriter Don Gallardo’s path has always steered clear of the mainstream. Traces of his journey illuminate his newest album. Begin with its title, Still Here, an assertion that he has learned from life and expressed its lessons in songs. Many have taken note already, including MOJO Magazine (“Gallardo nods to country’s most distant past while sounding like its very near future”), No Depression (“highly recommended to fans of great songwriters”) and, several times, Rolling Stone, who most recently heralded him as one of “10 Artists You Need To Know” in 2017.
The August List.
The August List are a boy / girl two-piece who play backwards country / porch folk with a startling rock ‘n’ roll attitude. Acoustic guitars, kick drums, harmonicas, found instruments and their voices are deployed with verve and passion on songs concerning the frailty of human existence, the awesomeness of nature and other fun things.
“It’s a rare West Country husband-and-wife duo that can pull off the knack of sounding simultaneously like a vintage Louisiana jug band and at the same time very much like themselves.” – Tom Robinson
“Stripped down roots-inspired music that stylistically has its core in folk and country, but it’s sights set a little further afield also“ – Americana UK
Misty River
Misty River are an Americana band based in London with roots in the west coast of Ireland and the US. Their EP was recorded with the band playing together live at Eastcote studios London and mixed in Nashville by Grammy award winner Vance Powell (Chris Stapleton, Sturgill Simpson, Seasick Steve, Elle King). They were fortunate to have had a song featured in full in the Oscar winning film The Phone Call and have another song coming out this summer in a new US film. Whilst its still early days for Misty River they have toured the world as supporting musicians with many well known acts playing at many of the major festivals over the years (Voodoo fest in New Orleans and Bluesfest in Australia being a couple of our favourites).
