The Journeymen Weavers' Story
Journeymen were jobbing weavers who lived in north Spitalfields. Their few remaining houses have great significance because they were the first live/work buildings and the first to be designed for a specific trade. Hosted by author Julian Woodford, the walk will visit some of these buildings as well as the haunts of Joseph Merceron, the infamous ‘Godfather’ of Regency London and subject of Julian’s book The Boss of Bethnal Green, bringing the area’s turbulent history to life.
