Frances Plagne is a musician from Melbourne whose work combines songwriting with group improvisation, instrumental abstraction and domestic musique concrète. He has released recordings on Albert's Basement, Black Truffle, Breakdance the Dawn, Kye Records, Penultimate Press and his own Mould Museum label, among others, and recently released collaborative works with crys cole and Andrew Chalk.
He will be accompanied by long-time collaborators James Rushford, on keyboards and medieval-style portative organ, and Joe Talia, on drums. Together they will dip into some material from Plagne's recent and forthcoming releases: songs that hint at melodic satisfaction between rambling instrumental interludes, ambiguous tape interjections and the wheezing breaths of strangled organ pipes.
Building on recent collaborative projects Dickson & Steiger combine a shared enthusiasm for improvisation and ideas of drawing through live performance - playing with sound, time and light. We're excited to see what the surroundings at the Dentist bring out in them.
Amy Dickson’s practice encompasses video and live performance, having made videos with mobile phone cameras, thermochromic screen-printed fabric and light to produce para-cinematic performances. Billy Steiger plays the violin and draws. Always present throughout Billy’s work is an explicit fascination with the psycho-acoustical/psycho-geological nature of space (interior/exterior). A recent recorded exploration of an area just south of Carno, Powys is an example of this approach - folding together a series of neighbouring locations with documented walks and field recordings.

The Choir have been practising British and Balkan folk songs informally together at Cafe OTO's Project Space for the last 9 months. They'll pick some of their favourites to sing round the Dentist's lovely fire.
