Humdingers is back!
We just can’t get enough, so we’re back for another top notch night of Stand Up Comedy at The Abbey Theatre on Thursday 20th June.
Headlining the show this month, we are absolutely delighted to bring you “Observational genius” (The Guardian) and star of Mock the Week, the phenomenally funny, Carl Donnelly!
Carl started performing stand-up in 2005 and quickly established himself as one of the UK’s most exciting young comedians. His conversational, silly sense of humour has seen him win a host of awards (Chortle Best Club Comedian 2017; Chortle Best Newcomer 2007; Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year 2007; among others) and become a regular at all of the finest comedy clubs in the UK and Ireland.
In 2009, Carl performed his debut solo show Relax Everyone, it’s Carl Donnelly! at the Edinburgh Fringe for which he was nominated for the Edinburgh Comedy Award for Best Newcomer. Also nominated for the Fosters Comedy Award in 2013, Carl has since returned to Edinburgh with seven further solo shows, his latest being the very well-reviewed Strictly Carl Donnelly! in 2018.
Carl has also appeared on various TV shows including Mock The Week, Dave’s One Night Stand, Stand Up for the Week, Russell Howard’s Good News and Stand Up Central, Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled, Follow The Football, Football Tonight and Comedy Store. He is also a regular on radio appearing as a guest on such shows as BBC 5live’s The Back End of Next Week, Radio 4’s Loose Ends and Act Your Age as well as being a regular guest on talkSPORT. He has also co-hosted a radio show for the Fubar Radio app after his acclaimed podcast which he recorded with Chris Martin.
“Observational genius”
The Guardian
“Donnelly can provoke laughter out of anything”
Scotsman
‘This man is a rare creature – he is inherently funny, and his stand-up feels natural and free flowing… proper tears-in-the-eyes, laugh-out-loud funny”
BroadwayBaby.com
“Donnelly has developed a style that is the antithesis of the loud, sweaty, manic comic so prevalent on the telly and live tours at the moment. This is stand up with valium: near horizontal levels of louche that take the mundane stories of everyday life and turns them into stretches of self-deprecating silliness”
The Guardian
Opening Act: CALLY BEATON
Cally is a natural storyteller full of intelligent, distinctive and punchline-rich material. Her act is a rollercoaster ride of anecdotes, observations and stuff even your best mate wouldn’t admit to.
IN 2017, Cally was listed in Chortle’s: Comedians To Watch and her Award Finalist credits include: Fresh Comedy Knights 2016, Max Turner Prize 2016, Bath Comedy Festival 2016 and Gotham Comedy New Talent New York 2015.
Cally took her first show, Cat Call, to Edinburgh in 2016 with comedy partner Catherine Bohart, where it received a Malcolm Hardee Award. Her debut solo show, Super Cally Fragile Lipstick, was a sell-out hit at Edinburgh in 2017, receiving 4**** reviews, national press coverage and picked as Best of Edinburgh Fringe by The Arts Desk.
She has appeared several times on BBC Radio 4, including most recently on Museum of Comedy, and also appeared as a panelist on BBC2's QI
“Cally is a comedy queen – fiery, intelligent and totally original” Sara Pascoe
“Cally Beaton is an exciting and hilarious talent, definitely one to watch. Sometimes you just know when someone’s got it – and she’s got it”
Time Out
“Properly funny. A real find”
Sandi Toksvig
“Not even a bit funny. She’s just embarrassing.”

PETE LATHAM
Pete mixes brilliantly crafted set up and punch jokes with observations you wont notice you notice. Pete often plays a likeable fool and his act often includes surreal twists and turns as he playfully deconstructs human behaviour.
Pete is the 2018's Bath Comedy Festival New Act of the Year Award Winner, and has been successfully playing comedy clubs in and around the country. Other achievements include reaching the semi finals of both the Amused Moose and Laughing Horse competitions.
Pete wrote and voiced FUNNYMALS, a light entertainment sketch show involving wildlife clips with witty and comical voice-overs. The show has already been licensed in over 60 countries with partners such as POP TV in the UK, RTL in Germany, Univision in the US and Mexico, Sky in Italy, SBS in the Netherlands and Comedy Central in Africa.
Pete performed his first solo show ‘The First Gag Is The Cheapest’ at the Edinburgh Festival in 2017. It received positive feedback from audiences and a 5 star review from TV & Radio’s Douglas Anderson who found Pete to be ‘quite simply one of the best comedians ready to break, his take on life’s minutiae is a delight.’
And back by popular demand, your host will be Humdingers Comedy's very own, Phil Hawksworth!
Do Not Miss this one, it's going to be our best show so far!
